What is the LAVA Journal?

We are a student run litarary and visual arts magazine

The LAVA Journal is a student-run, online magazine for literature and visual arts first conceived by Trinity Quaye during her junior year of high school.  After sharing the idea with a few friends and a faculty advisor, the journal began to take shape in summer 2023. Now, we are on the cusp of publishing our first issue. The LAVA Journal seeks work that thoughtfully explores human connection with the intent to promote unity among individuals and communities despite their apparent differences.  We publish quarterly on or near September 1st, December 1st, March 1st and June 1st.   Submission deadlines are July 1st, October 1st, January 4th, and April 1st annually.  Written submissions must not exceed 5,000 words. There is no minimum word count. Both written and visual works should relate substantially to the theme of the upcoming issue.

The theme of our first issue is bonds.  Please submit work that symbolizes or exemplifies the bonds we make throughout our lives and their value to us.
